Saturday, September 23

Launch Party (Saskatoon)

Stop by Design Week HQ to be first to see all the entries for the Premier’s Awards of Excellence and place your vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” While you’re there have an hors d'oeuvre, a drink or two and listen to opening remarks from the Design Council of Saskatchewan and local dignitaries.

Monday, September 25

Premier’s Awards of Excellence in Design Entries Exhibit (Saskatoon)

Stop by and view all of the entries into the Premier’s Awards of Excellence in Design competition and place your vote for the “People’s Choice Award.”

Omar Gandhi Evening Lecture (Saskatoon)

Omar Gandhi was recognized as one of the world’s top 20 young architects by Wallpaper* Magazine, one of Canada’s 20 most influential people by Monocle Magazine, and as one of 2016’s ‘Emerging Voices’ by The Architectural League of New York. Also a sessional instructor at his Alma Mater, Dalhousie University.

Ian Brignell Evening Lecture (Saskatoon)

Ian Brignell is an award-winning lettering, logo and font designer, whose logo designs include Budweiser, Bud Light, Kashi, Smirnoff, Miller High Life, Telefonica, Harvard, Western, Coors Light, Coors Banquet, Duracell, Dove, Vaseline, Burger King, Hunt’s, Bauer, Harvey’s, Shaw, ChapStick, Playtex, Estée Lauder Pleasures, CIBC, Chapters, Swiss Chalet, Merck, Leffe, Hershey’s, Bigelow, Hoegaarden, Barrick, Crown Royal – the list goes on and on.

Makerspace Lunch & Learn (Saskatoon)

Saskatoon Makerspace provides creative people with access to tools & equipment and the education that is necessary to safely operate them. Tour this great new facility and munch on a barbecued burger.

Robin Mazumder Lunch & Learn (Regina)

Robin Mazumder is a Vanier Scholar and doctoral candidate in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Waterloo, where he is studying the psychological impacts of urban design.

Jason Kasper Evening Lecture (Saskatoon)

Jason Kasper is the founder and Principal of IDEATE Design Consulting Inc. in Winnipeg. The company began in 2002 with the mandate to create innovative design solutions attainable to as many as possible. Since then, the firm has gone on to work with a diverse range of clients on many successful projects.

Thursday, September 27

Canadian Light Source Morning Tour & Lunch (Saskatoon)

Sign up for a guided tour of the synchrotron, Canada’s largest science experiment. After your tour, enjoy lunch along with a presentation about the Canadian Light Source project from Industrial Science Manager, Jeff Warner.

Aside from handing out the awards, this is a great opportunity to get out and celebrate with Saskatchewan’s professional design community. Snacks, entertainment, cash bar.
